One of my all-time favorite movie quotes is the following Dan Akroyd gem from The Blues Brothers: “Its 106 miles to Chicago. We’ve got a full tank of gas. It’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses. Hit it.”
This battle cry has launched many a college roadtrip during my younger days, but as the gravity and responsibility of adulthood settled-in, the cross-country treks have pretty much disappeared. Or so I thought…
Workscape is reaching a milestone. We’re rapidly approaching our ten-year anniversary. We’re getting ready to launch some game-changing solutions into the marketplace and we offer a debt of gratitude to the companies and communities that have helped us to become the growing, vibrant, successful organization that we are today.
“Giving back” has always been part of the Workscape DNA – from regular and ongoing contributions to various charities on the behalf of our clients, to our corporate support of such organizations as the American Cancer Society and M.L. Carr’s Warm2Kids – but we wanted to do something bigger. Something more meaningful. Something that would challenge others to get informed and get involved.
So we began asking: what if we captured the fun and excitement of those roadtrips, tied-it around a great cause and stopped to visit some customers along the way? What if we could find a meaningful way to give back to our clients and raise awareness for some very worthy causes as we raise awareness of our company in general?
After much planning, a ton of logistical work and the participation of some very enthusiastic organizations, our “what if” whiteboard session turned in to a plan… and today we’re proud to announce the Workscape Gives Back Tour.
Kicking-off from our corporate headquarters in Marlborough, MA and weaving our way to McCormick Place in Chicago, IL (the site of the HR Technology Conference) we’ll be driving a 2008 Saturn Vue Hybrid, courtesy of our good friends and long-standing clients at General Motors, cross-country to:
We invite you to join us on this journey by visiting this site daily, by following us on Twitter and by looking for our videos on both this site and on YouTube. If you like what you see, help spread the word by telling your friends or by Digging this page by clicking on the link to the right. More importantly, if you’re motivated by what we’re doing, join us in helping to give back to those who could use a little extra help… especially as we enter the colder months.
So, with apologies to Mr. Akroyd, I’m going to steal his quote and modify it just a bit… It’s over 1,500 miles to Chicago. The Saturn has a trunkful of food. We’ve got 10 stops to make and thousands of people to help, but we need you to kick-in and make it a huge success. Let’s hit it.
Best regards,
