In this video, Workscape CEO Tim Clifford shares his views on the criticality of goal alignment and compensation process transparency to driving continued success in uncertain times.

Alignment and transparency are critical at an individual level because employees are more likely to be fully engaged when they have a clear understanding of their day-to-day objectives, and can see how their actions contribute to the company’s strategy.  Ultimately, providing employees with a transparent view of how their individual effort impacts the company benefits the organization by creating an engaged and high performance culture.

Follow up:

With transparency, employees can be confident about:

  • The company’s strategic vision and milestones to be achieved
  • The individual goals that support these strategic objectives
  • The metrics that each individual goal is evaluated on
  • The compensation and other rewards that can be earned by meeting or exceeding these goals

With more clarity in these areas, employees can focus on accomplishing their goals, and are more likely to release the “discretionary effort” that Tim describes as a core component of employee engagement earlier in the interview.
