Web-centric employee and manager capabilities support goals for cost savings, employee retention and paperless HR services for 200,000 employees
Framingham, Mass. - September 23, 2002 - Workscape Inc., the leading provider of Internet-based Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, was recently selected by Ahold USA, a subsidiary of Royal Ahold, as a cornerstone of the Ahold Manager and Associate Self-Service initiative, a project that will facilitate and accelerate the company's commitment to continuous innovation, service expansion and new technology deployment. Ahold USA is the leading supermarket operator in America's Eastern states, with 1,300 stores and 200,000 employees.
The core objectives of the Ahold Manager and Associate Self-Service (MASS) project are to increase employee retention, decrease turnover, and improve HR business processes by automating corporate and store management HR transactions through Web technology. As a result, a wide range of associate and manager self-service functions will be deployed. These will be enhanced with easy access to instructional reference and decision support content, as well as approval workflow. The Web transactions will eliminate the paper processes commonly associated with HR functions, while improving one-to-one communication with associates. This technology will decrease the amount of time spent by HR departments and store management in answering informational queries and processing business transactions.
Integrated into the solution will be Authoria's knowledge repository, a Web-based communications platform that enables organizations to manage and communicate complex benefits and policy information.
According to Frank Bartsch, Ahold's Director of HRIS, "The MASS initiative is intended to provide every associate with a best-of-breed system that can be used to access personally relevant information about benefits, policies, and procedures, and to perform day-to-day HR functions via the Web from work or home. Our alliance with Workscape is a major step in that direction."
According to Tim Clifford, Workscape's President and CEO, "Our suite of employee and manager applications fits perfectly with the efficiency and productivity goals of Ahold's Manager and Associate Self-Service project. I am confident that the powerful, synergistic combination of Workscape and Authoria will offer Ahold a unique self-service and knowledge base resource. We are pleased to provide customers like Ahold with the ROI-driven solutions that enable their Human Resources functions to eliminate administrative processes and focus on the strategic management of their human capital."
