Description
Workscape’s Senior Software Engineers significantly contribute to helping the team make the architectural vision of our Human Capital Management and Outsourced Benefits software products a reality by implementing the development decisions. Technical responsibilities include development, and maintenance of Workscape’s product line. We are seeking an individual that wants to work closely with a team of senior engineers experienced in developing web applications using Java for an independent software vendor (ISV).
Responsibilities
- Perform client Implementation, product design, system analysis, and programming activities on applications software which may require some research.
- Perform bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA, clients or product support and develops solutions to the problems.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, System Architects and Product Management to clarify requirements (both client specific customization and standard product).
- Research and understand requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
- Participate and contribute to best practices (Lean development, Refactoring, code standards, TDD)
Qualifications
Education: BS/MS degree.
Technical Skills:
- Required Technologies: Java 5+, JUnit (or TestNG)
- Key Technologies: Hibernate, Flex, JavaScript, IOC containers (Spring, Guice, Hivemind)
- Application Servers: JBoss, Weblogic, IBM’s Websphere
- Tools: Eclipse, JIRA
- Database Experience: SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle
- ERP Integration with PeopleSoft, Oracle eBusiness suite and/or SAP a plus
Process Skills:
- 4-5 years of software engineering/development experience, ideally at least 1 years of experience in design and development of Java based web applications
- Exposure with object-oriented design and analysis
- Exposure with the complete software development lifecycle; knowledge and/or interested in agile methodologies (SCRUM, XP)
- Exposure with test driven development(TDD), continuous integration
Other Skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment with technical and non technical members
- Ability to conduct technical and application presentations to technical and non-technical staff a plus
- Knowledge and/or experience with HRIS, and the HR domain a plus
- General analytical and design skills at single product/single environment level.
- General skills in research, project planning and implementation.
- General understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
- General awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans.
- Experience collaborating with senior technical staff
