Description
Workscape’s Principal Software Engineers significantly contribute to the architectural vision of our Human Capital Management software products by making strategic design and development decisions that affect our overall technical direction. Technical responsibilities include the design, development, and maintenance of Workscape’s product line. We are seeking a hands-on engineer experienced in developing web applications using Java for an independent software vendor (ISV) with particular skills in Service Oriented Architectures and application/systems integration.
Major Responsibilities
- Participate in design and hands on coding
- Follow best practices (Lean development, Refactoring, code standards, TDD)
- Determine tradeoffs, estimates, and overall approach to work as an individual contributor
- Collaborate with Product Management to clarify requirements and designs
Job Qualifications(Experience and Education)
Education:
BS/MS degree.
Technical Skills:
- Required Technologies: Java 5+, JUnit
- Required Experience:
- Developing in ESB environments utilizing OSGi component integration architectures,
- SOA design principles and design/development of web services.
- Application integration with major ERP’s (i.e. Oracle eBusiness Suite, SAP,etc.)
- Key Technologies: Hibernate, IOC containers
- Application Servers: JBoss
- Tools: Eclipse, Rational Clear Case
- Database Experience: SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle
Process Skills:
- 4+ years of software engineering/development experience, specifically at least 2 years of experience in design and development of Java based web applications
- Experience with object-oriented design and analysis
- Experience with the complete software development lifecycle; experience with agile methodologies (SCRUM, XP)
- Experience with test driven development(TDD), continuous integration
Other Skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to author technical and application design and issue documents, conduct technical and application presentations to technical and non-technical staff
- Knowledge and/or experience with HRIS, and the HR domain a plu
- Experience collaborating with senior technical staff
